Jatalla - New Human Powered Search Engine
Email It!
Jatalla (www.jatalla.com), the new "100%" human powered search engine. Now dont imagine that there will be 1000′S OF SEO’s sitting and ranking the pages manually. Being self poccessive, I tried to check the search results of my name (Usually thats 3rd or 4th link on Google), it gave me No results. I thought I should Pass this on. But the concept is good. The whole search engine depends on collective intelligence of the users. Users vote the page (lexivote - a user-submitted evaluation that consists of two parts: (i) a search term and (ii) at least one URL). The search came in a collective package through the project “Ethicode Artificial Conscience Project”, which had the mission of creating an ethical system for use by artificially intelligent machines. The search engine will not be having crawlers as such. Users have to upload the Lexivotes (Interesting word), some thing like song ratings on coolgoose. They also have a Localization Syntax in place which provides results pertaining to a Geographic Location. There is a Categorization Syntax based on which the the search subjects can be categorized.
Though the prototype is out, Now how far this is gonna reach is still a question. One reason being the Search engine is User driven (More than Data), where as other search engines are more Data driven (Like number of inbound and outbound links) and then comes the user relevancy. The Page/Link Rank will be based on user lexivotes. Founder, Shelley Harrison says foregoing automated corrections to pluralize and synonymize tagging was a planned inefficiency, to better reflect the mind of its human algorithm. Jatalla will present at MIT’s Emerging Technologies Conference, where it hopes to attract the investment needed to push the proof of concept into a developed beta. The start sounds good. But has to be seen, how long this User driven Search engine is gonna take to give Google a taste of their own medicine.
