Yahoo - Acer Search tie up

Reuters: Web Search is the sector that made google the giant it is today and though Yahoo had ventured into search much earlier Google has been leading and continues to be the favourite search engine of millions around the world. So inorder to snatch market share frm google Yahoo has signed a multiyear distribution deal to feature its Internet search services on all personal computers from Acer, the world’s No. 4-ranked computer notebook maker
According to market share data from industry research firm Gartner, Acer was the fastest-growing PC maker in the United States, where it ranks seventh it is the top supplier of PC notebooks in Europe and the third-ranked manufacturer in Asia.
Acer said it will begin shipment of its PCs featuring the co-branded toolbar and Acer/Yahoo start page on Oct. 1 in the Asia Pacific region, Europe, North America and South America.
Google has signed such deal with major PC maker such as Dell. Only time will tell how this search market tussle between the two of the most powerful internet companies goes ahead.
