Mediapost: I am sure most of you know what google adwords is.. and for the benefit of those who dont.. Google Adwords is google’s ad network programme which invites advertisers to place ads on the right column next to search results by bidding for keywords (I hope that was simple enough.. if not here is the wikipedia definition google adwords ). Now with the mobile user population beginning to boom google has begun testing an new service that helps advertisers place ads next to search results which are searched through a mobile device.  This service allows paid search advertisers to distribute pay-per-click and pay-per-call text ads to mobile phones in the United States, the U.K. and Japan.

This service can be utilised by users through their normal adwords account by opting to show ads on mobile devices. Im speculating that this service could soon be rolled out in India as well after all India’s mobile users base is larger than 100 million and expected to grow to 350 million by 2010!

This service will also make the mobile advertising space a lot more accesible to all kind of advertisers as compared to the web advertising on mobile could mean going through many operators and high spend as well. This service by google could shake up the mobile advertising market when its launched in India.

Already google’s video ads have been used by Indian Companies to target online consumers and I feel this service when launched in India would give Online Marketers another lucrative option to target their user base and it will also bring mobile access to web in focus.
