Exchange4media: Indya.com which was founded by Pradeep Kar way back in the year 2000 and when the dot com bust happened it taken over by Star TV in 2001. Now Indya.com which is used as an india centric portal by Star TV has tied up with the International Cricket Council (ICC) a bid to create greater visibility. Indya.com will be the internet partner for both the Champions Trophy that kicks off next month in India and for next year’s World Cup in the West Indies. Indya.com has developed and will maintain the site www.iccchampionstrophy.com.

Features of this site will include

• Access to audio and video packages
• Specific packages will allow internet subscribers to buy a match pack
• Live clips of ongoing games,
• Deferred live highlight packages
• Archives of previous editions of the Champions Trophy
• Matchcast which allows viewers to watch live scores, ball-by-ball updates, player profiles, team profiles etc
• Another interactive feature that the site will have is called Voice Of The World Cup. which is a contest that requires participants to provide commentary to a piece of archived footage which has had its commentary removed

The other contenders for ICC web partner were Cricinfo.com and Yahoo! This partnership just shows how TV channels are also realising the potential of the web. Through Indya.com and cricket Star plans to reach out a large audience. Indya.com currently gets around 40 million page views a month and this partnership would surely consolidate its position on the web.
