India 2.0 Are we ready? Part 2
Email It!
As promised we are back with the 2nd part of the India 2.0 series our first part talked about social networking and bookmarking sites.
Well the Part 2 update more on the social bookmarking sphere where as we also touch upon some other ones we missed out last time.
Picture 2.0
Internationally the most popular photo sharing site is Flickr.com which was bought over by Yahoo but do we have an Indian counterpart? Yes we do.
Pixrat.com - Inspired by Flickr this picture sharing site seems to be one of the few popular web 2.0 sites made and managed entirely by Indians. Interestingly three techies, former employees of the internet giant, Yahoo!, Rajesh Warrier, 29, Ruban Phukan, 26 and Himanshu Nautiyal, 31, of RHR Networks Pvt Ltd are the brains behind Pixrat. And no pixrat is not their only venture they also own job search engine Bixee.com, Indian Craiglist (free classified listings) ApnaMarket.com and a Social Bookmarking site Newscola.com and they dont stop here.. They are planning to launch three more ventures. One being a social networking site Palintrome.com, A house search engine Allbhk.com and the last one is called 2bread.com. Thus making their count to 7 sites!
Events 2.0
Seraja.com - A website where you can publish, manage and share your events with other users. Founded by Rajesh jain of Emergic.org this website is one of its kind on the web. On logging on it automatically forwards you to events in your location. One of the few Indian run International websites with events from all across the world. The features boast of audio, video, picture sharing to make it even more interactive and personal.
We are just listing all the social bookmarking sites (including the ones we mentioned last time). Most of them are complete copies of International site digg.com with very little difference that you can make out at first instance. But we shall soon have a detailed analysis by our very own web 2.0 expert analyst Garima Dhiman (wish she knew how to save a back up and this analysis would have been online already!) on all the social bookmarking sites in India (We have discovered 9 as of now).
While concluding this blog I want to mention that we were not the only ones talking about web 2.0 BusinessWorld’s new issue has an article on the same! Guess what? The same websites we mentioned in our first part of India 2.0 on 18th Aug are published in BusinessWorld open only to subscribed users! So here’s proof that WATblog not only provides quality stuff first but there is no subscription required :) Little bragging never killed anyone!
Happy Reading!
