Agencyfaqs: According to the Lintas IMAG TTL Research, From 2006, the Indian marketer’s communication spends have been tilting from Above The Line, or the traditional mass media, to through-the-line media. So much so that by the end of 2007, TTL media will contribute 50 per cent or more of the total marketing spend pie, thus becoming equal to, or even overtaking, mass media. The 8 key through-the-line media identified by this study are Digital Marketing and Web development, out of home, PR, entertainment marketing, event management, healthcare marketing, strategic design and rural marketing.

With respect to Web development and CRM, it was learnt that marketers feel there is a big need for people who understand their brands and have the specific skills to use that understanding effectively. Thus far, clients have been getting either the technology aspect from agencies or the creative/brand building part, but rarely a synergy of both.

Now thats an interesting point.. And its not only the big companies that are looking at the web. Personal websites might be another market that could rise in the future. Though indian numbers are not available a New research from domain registrar 1&1 has shown that 25% of the UK population either already own, or want, a personal web site or blog.

Some stats revealed:

Over 50% of the men surveyed wanted to create a site about their hobby, compared with 40% of women
Around half of all women wanted to create a photo sharing site, compared to 37% of men.
Men would publish rants, horse racing tips, health benefits of eating less salt, and football results.
Women were interested in creating sites dedicated to sharing and supporting individuals, wedding information, family trees, and travel photos.

Now you may say these are UK numbers and do not signify the potential here in India. But one look at the traffic that social networking sites like Orkut, hi5  (which let you share your hobbies likes and dislikes) get gives an indication that there might be some potential in the personal website market as well.
