Reliance invests 100 million $ in Online Gaming!
Exchange4media: Reliance Entertainment promoted by Anil Ambani is all set to storm the online gaming market by investing $100 million over a three-year period to launch gaming portals and gaming cafes across India.
Rajesh Sawhney, President, Reliance Entertainment, said, “In Phase I, we will launch casual gaming portals; in Phase II action gaming portals will be launched; and in Phase III, we will launch MMOGs (Massive Multiplayer Online Games).”
Reliance is targetting Diwali as the launch date for their Phase I launch. Also after having the broadband and cafe network online gaming is natural progression. Not too long ago Sify launched it Online Gaming port A3India.com as it too has a chain of broadband cybercafe’s. The third player is indiatimes which had tied up with levelupgames for its various MMOGs(Massive Multiplayer Online Games).
Internationally online gaming is a huge business According to DFC Intelligence, revenue from interactive entertainment (that’s electronic games in plain English) will reach US$42B in 2010, up from US$28.5B in 2005.
