Airtel users will be able to access Microsoft applications
Now airtel users will be able to view/edit & create their Microsoft office files from their mobile phones, airtel has announced its tie up with Microsoft on Monday targeting to an estimated 4 million potential users.
Airtel users will be able to access Microsoft applications like Microsoft word, powerpoint, excel. The airtel will also be able to surf the net through internet explorer which is included in the list of applications, mp3 and video recording are also included , and a special line up of business application like self force automation will also be accessible from the mobile handset. (it enables customers to manage and share all of their sales, support, marketing and partner information on-demand. )
The operating system used for this technology will be windows mobile 5.0. it is best suitable for the ON THE MOVE businessmen, who donot get sufficient time with their desktops or may find even a laptop too bulky and may have minimum use of typing email etc… And when this technology satisfies most of the everyday in use applications needed by businessmen then why not go for such a phone….
The new platform, which is seamlessly integrated with the MS Exchange server 2003, is priced at Rs. 399, offering 100 MB of space, Rs. 599 — 1 GB and Rs. 799 — 1.5 GB space, for individuals at the entry level.
Airtel will be the 115th mobile service provider in the world who will provide these business solutions as stated by Bharti Airtel president Manoj Kohli
As of now The service is available in Delhi, Mumbai, Chennai, Kolkata, Pune, Hyderabad and Bangalore and plan to launch it in 20 other cities by this year end.
This service will be available only on select mobile handsets compatible with the windows operating system mobile 5.0 and as of now they would be the latest version of HP I Paq and I-mate handset, the price ranges from Rs. 16000 upto 65000. the cost will be less for enterprises depending upon the number of users. Existing airtel customers will get preference in handset pricing.
