Exchange4media: Its seems that yatra.com is fully geared up to launch a massive advertising campaign. Recently they has announced that Tribal DDB (Possible reason is that Reliance Capital has funded yatra and TribalDDB is one of its subsidiary companies Mudra’s digital arm)would be handling their media duties and now they have appointed David as their official creative agency. The total spend on advertising is slated to be in the region of Rs 15 crore, out of which it is learnt that David’s share of the business will be close to Rs 11-12 crore. The rest would be allocated to Tribal DDB India. So it means that online advertising would form around 3-4 crore.
We also had a news piece on TV18 acquiring UrbanEye which is a digital agency and which has also done work on the Yatra.com website. Now with three different companies in Tribal DDB, David and UrbanEye (assuming Urban Eye has a role to play in Yatra which we suspect it would) and three investing companies Reliance Capital, TV18 and Norwest Capital Ventures it seems that Yatra.com has suddenly got too many cooks stirring the broth!! We hope they dont spoil the broth!

too many cooks????, its more about specialization tribals doing what it does best, urbaneyes doing what it does best and brand david is doing what it does best, this utopian idea that an agency can provide good 360 degree solutions is flawed…. btw cleartrips site was done by its inhouse agency paperplane, its offline is done by beehive and its actualy online buying is a 3rd company, what about makemytrip. its site is done by studio smile, its interactive by webchutney and your have another agency that handles its adverstising…. now if tribal ever improves how they design websites, or urbaneye ever gets into online marketing or david finaly gets interactive you might have a different story…..
