Kool IM faces some Hot Competition …!!!

Kool IM is just one of the latest offering for browser based messenger, Following the footsteps of Sequoia funded Meebo which was launched late last year & Netherlands based EBuddy revamped for web 2.0 in February. Moreover this sites are claiming to be profitable, I think is because of the long time people stay on the messenger rather than the actual number of hits. The war just seems to be getting hotter with Meebo launching MeeboMe a Flash-based chat widget (a window embedded in you page that connects to Meebo chat servers) that Meebo users can place on a website not a group chat feature (as offered by 3Bubbles which is riddled by bugs) but a one to one feature between the website owner and the visitor. Also Netvibes (a personally configurable Ajax homepage) just integrated Meebo & Alexa into their embedded widgets for users. With this kind of competition we can sure expect the future of browser based chat to be well….. Interesting.

I think it will be very interesting, time will tell but it will be for sure that there will not only be one winner, maybe 3, 4 or even 5.
I use koolim and i think its great, only koolim and ebuddy have popus which i really like for IM.
I use eBuddy. I like the way they have a wab mode and a pop up mode. You can choose which one you prefer. At work the tab mode works best for me: just 1 window, a new tab for every conversation.
