The americans do it better than the Indians when it comes to being socialising at 50 years and above or well thats what i make of a social networking site Eons.com launched by founder of Internet job site Monster.com, Jeff Taylor. This social networking site is very much like the ever popular teen hangout Myspace.com but its specifically targetted at the 50 plus americans. Talk about being innovative this site comes with a longetivity calculator, tips for a longer life and even death alerts! It also has a nationwide database of obituaries dating back to the 1930s to which people can add photos and comments. Well i guess when im 50 i would be the first few indians to join such a website. Such a concept may not work in India currently because india is a very young country with over 60% population under the age of 25. No doubt orkut which is ranked 4th on alexa rankings seems to be gaining more and more popularity among Indians. But what Eons.com states is that social networking may not be an age bound concept which is again an interesting thought if you are looking at a niche audience witha web 2.0 concept.
