Business Standard:  Imagine this! You are messaging a girl through a social networking site like orkut.com or hi5.com and finally get the courage to ask her "Can we chat on MSN?" and she replies "Sorry i use yahoo messenger!" you feel there goes my opportunity to get a nice girl friend.. Reason: You never chat on yahoo messenger coz none of your friends do!

Well its about time you stopped being so silly! Yahoo and Msn are joining hands in the most amazing deal for IM services. Yahoo and MSN Instant Messaging (IM) users from India and 14 other countries will be able to invite and chat with each other beginning today.

These 15 countries account for 350 million users which is over 80 per cent of MSN and Yahoo’s combined user base. The other countries are not covered due to language issues but and in process.

In India, MSN and Yahoo account for over 70 per cent of all IM users. Experts predict that the IM traffic will exceed email traffic over the next one year.
 
This deal will directly affect Google Talk the IM launched by Google.

  1. i do not think that google traffic will be effected,nonetheless google will wrap both its competitors as it has more accesories than its bigger market share parteners
